Linq Sportsbook Review

Formerly the Imperial Palace and Quad, the Linq Las Vegas takes aim at the budget-friendly crowd. The property in the heart of the Strip offers a modest casino, Linq Sportsbook, a pool, Las Vegas betting, and Guy Fieri’s only Las Vegas restaurant.

Some of the rooms are a little worn and smoke can linger in the common areas, but a lot of money has been injected into the rebranding of this resort and its surrounding area. It’s now a tourist attraction with thousands of daily visitors (partiers) finding many things to do and places to eat at the Linq Promenade.

This area between the Linq and Flamingo now has two of the top attractions on the entire Strip — with the High Roller ferris wheel and the Fly Linq Zipline.

Linq Sportsbook 101

The Linq Las Vegas sportsbook may not be one of the best sportsbooks versus the mega resorts on the Strip, but it is certainly the most improved.

The entire Linq sports betting area, which is located at 3535 South Las Vegas Boulevard, was reduced in size and relocated to another part of the main casino floor near the doors of the promenade in a $223-million renovation in 2014. The planners in the rebranding did a fantastic job with this new, unique betting area.

It is vastly different from all the dozens of other sportsbooks in the area. While other major venues like the Wynn and Mandalay Bay offer stadium seating in a huge room, the Linq has one main area with three large pillars. There is a 98-inch LED flat screen on each of the four sides of the pillar, with each including “living room” seating on plush couches and chairs.

Three pillars with four separate areas equal 12 rentable “Fan Caves” for up to six guests. The big screen can be split into four viewing areas with multiple sporting events on each space. Those screens can also be used for game consoles, virtual reality and Xbox play. Each station comes with an iPad to place bets, order food and drinks, or control your audio and video displays.

Linq sportsbook hours vary depending upon the day of the week. Linq sports lines are available 24 hours a day, but the betting windows are open Monday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m., Tuesday to Friday from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. Hours are extended during football season.

Players must be 21 years of age or older to wager anywhere in Nevada, including on Linq entertainment esports and all the Linq Las Vegas sportsbook odds.

The new setup offers four options to place a bet with the first being the iPad at your location. The Linq sportsbook also has a small kiosk of betting windows and an interactive display where gamblers insert cash and punch out their own tickets.

The fourth option is to download the Mobile Sports at Caesars Entertainment app and use the Linq sportsbook online. Here, Linq sportsbook odds can be viewed on your Android or iOS device, including all the popular wagers for “live betting,” where the odds change from the pre-game betting lines throughout the event.

Linq online sports betting is only available in the state of Nevada. You won’t be able to make a bet on the app if you head home and live in another state.

Complimentary drink vouchers are a little easier to obtain at the Linq compared to other Strip sportsbooks like the MGM Grand and the Cosmopolitan. Bet at least $100 on sports or $20 on the horses to get that free drink here.

It’s Game Time at the Linq

Most of the “living rooms” are open to guests to sit and watch the games during the week. Groups will rent and reserve these stations on NFL Sundays and for major championships — like March Madness and the Super Bowl. You can still watch the games on the big screens if you’re willing to stand behind these seating areas.

Here are some of the sports bettors to bet on at the Linq Las Vegas sportsbook:

  • Pro and college football, including playoffs and Super Bowl
  • Pro and college basketball, including playoffs and NBA Final
  • Major League Baseball, including playoffs and World Series
  • Mixed Martial Arts and UFC events
  • Major soccer leagues from around the world
  • Boxing, but mostly just major fights
  • Hockey, including the playoffs and Stanley Cup
  • Auto racing, with weekly race odds and Sprint Cup Championship futures
  • Golf, with weekly odds and futures on all four majors
  • Tennis, with odds on all four Grand Slam events

Here are some of the bets available at the land-based Linq sportsbook:

  • Money line
  • Point spread
  • Over/under totals
  • Halftime lines
  • Future betting
  • Proposition bets, especially for the Super Bowl
  • Parlays
  • Teasers

There are even more betting options listed on the Linq sportsbook online through the Caesars app, especially prop bets and “in-play wagering.”

Location on the Strip

The party-friendly Linq Las Vegas, which has undergone numerous renovation and name changes over the years, is located on the east side of Las Vegas Boulevard, bordered by two Caesars properties with Harrah’s to the north and the Flamingo to the south.

  • Guests arriving at McCarran International Airport will head north on Swenson and make a left-hand turn at Harmon Avenue. Turn right at Koval Lane and enter the Linq property from Winnick Avenue.
  • Those traveling on Interstate 15 from California will use the Flamingo exit and head east to Koval Lane to reach the resort.
  • The Linq Promenade, which connects the Linq and Flamingo, has become a popular tourist stop with more than 200,000 square feet of shopping space. It’s also home to the first In-N-Out Burger on the Strip.
  • A pay-for-service monorail travels from MGM Grand to the Las Vegas Convention Center. The Linq shares one of its seven stops with Harrah’s.

Linq Parking

All Caesars properties on the Strip, except Planet Hollywood, charge guests for parking. Plenty of spaces are needed at the Linq — which is a 60-year-old resort with almost 3,000 hotel rooms.

  • The main entrance to the five-floor parking garage is from the Strip or you can enter off Winnick Avenue behind the property.
  • The casino entrance is located on level one.
  • The garage is unusual in that it actually dead-ends when you reach the top level.
  • There’s no charge for the first hour on your first day here. After that, it’s $9 from one to two hours, $12 from two to four fours, $15 over four to 24 hours, and $15 per day after that.
  • Valet parking is even higher. It’s $15 for under two hours, $20 for two to four hours, and $24 for four to 24 hours. After that, it’s $24 per day.
  • Caesars Rewards members may qualify for discount or complimentary parking.

Public Transportation Options

Public transportation and ride sharing programs are the best bet for visitors staying at the Linq. Ride share programs like Uber and Lyft, which are free to download, keep riders up-to-date on costs, time of arrival, and vehicle details. A one-way trip to your destination is likely to cost about two-thirds of a normal taxi fare.

  • Pick up your ride share on the second level of the parking garage at the airport.
  • Catching a ride with a taxi is easy in Las Vegas. There’s a lengthy queue just outside the main terminal at the airport. The estimated cost for a taxi to the Linq is $20, while it’s $14 with Uber.
  • Limousine services are available with the going rate around $85-90 an hour.
  • The Las Vegas public transit bus service runs 24 hours a day on the Strip, with routes to and from the airport. A two-hour bus pass on the Strip is $6, 24-hour pass is $8 and a three-day pass is $20.
  • The pass is good for the Deuce and Express bus lines. The Deuce is the slower of the two services, stopping at almost every resort on the Strip. The closest northbound stop to the Linq on the Deuce is its neighbor to the north at Harrah’s.
  • Public transportation methods will take visitors all over the Las Vegas area, including the two outlet malls and Downtown Vegas on Fremont Street.
  • The easiest way to get to T-Mobile Arena from the Linq is to cross the Strip to Caesars and use the pedestrian bridge to reach the Bellagio. Walk through this beautiful resort to hook up with the Aria Express — a four-car air-conditioned tram which takes travelers from the Bellagio to Park MGM for free. The arena is just across the street from this MGM property.

Fieri

Food & Drinks at the Linq

If you’re looking for fine dining, try the Venetian a few resorts to the north or Caesars Palace across the street. The Linq is more for those seeking a good time on a budget. The property is packed with casual dining places, but most of these eateries are located on the promenade.

Here are some of the popular spots inside the Linq resort:

  • Hash House A Go Go is a 24-hour restaurant known more for its monster-size portions.
  • Take a break from the slots and enjoy a quick bite at the Nook Express.
  • Guy Fieri’s Vegas Kitchen & Bar seats 200 guests with an extensive menu of casual fare and 16 craft beers.
  • You can enjoy happy hour at Jimmy Kimmel’s Comedy Club in the Linq Promenade or a beverage at one of these spots in the resort:
  • O’Sheas Pub Las Vegas is a traditional Irish pub featuring gaming tables, beer pong and drink specials.
  • If you’re looking for a little adventure in your cocktail, try Catalyst Las Vegas Cocktail Bar, which is open around the clock.
  • 3535 Las Vegas Cocktail Bar empowers guests with the opportunity to sample never-before-tasted flavors.

Linq Rewards

Linq Las Vegas is part of the stable of Caesars properties that all use the same rewards card. Caesars Rewards is free to join for new members, who earn points for every dollar spent on gambling, hotel stays, food and drink, and shopping at any of the Caesars resorts.

New members start at the Gold level and work their way up through Platinum and Diamond to the top level Seven Stars. The higher the level, the more privileges on meals, room rates and complimentary gifts.

The top level Caesars cardholders also earn one of the best perks of them all. They don’t have to pay the unpopular resort fees which are tacked on at checkout for most guests at all Las Vegas hotels. The resort fee at the Linq is $40, including taxes, per night.

Casino

Small Casino at the Linq

The small casino floor at the Linq gets a lot of action from pedestrian traffic off of the Strip and promenade. At 33,000 square feet, visitors can often find themselves in tight quarters moving around the 830 slot and video poker machines and 55 table games.

Gamblers will enjoy the $5 table minimums and the fact that complimentary drinks are quite easy to come by from friendly servers. Some of the table games available to play include:

  • Blackjack, tables play 6-5 odds on a 21, with $5 minimum bet.
  • Roulette, with all wheels containing the standard two sets of zeroes.
  • Craps, start at $10 minimum with standard rules.

Other table games spotted on the casino floor include: Fortune Pai Gow Poker, Ultimate Texas Hold’em, High Card Flush, Three Card Poker, Crazy 4 Poker, Mississippi Stud, Let it Ride, and Casino War.

The high limit slots area is marked off but does not have its own separate room. It’s just as noisy as the rest of the gaming area with added help from the open doors and busy promenade.

Room

Basic, Modern Hotel

Most of the 2,640 basic rooms at the Linq were renovated as part of the hotel’s rebranding, giving each room a modern appeal. Noise complaints are common in this five-tower party resort with value-friendly pricing where rooms start as low as $33 a night, plus resort fee.

  • • Basic “deluxe” rooms, at 300 square feet, offer one king or two queen beds.
  • • Basic “luxury” rooms, at 400 square feet, offer one king or two queen beds and a little more space.
  • • Smoking, non-smoking and strip view rooms are available upon request.
  • • Other units include a king suite with separate bedrooms, a penthouse suite with a bar and kitchenette, and some basic rooms with bunk beds for those looking for a cheap stay.
  • • Amenities include mini-fridges, 47-inch flat-screen TVs, and USB charging stations.
