Dream Season For Expansion Team
NHL playoff games don’t draw the kind of attention in Las Vegas sports books like the Super Bowl, March Madness or World Series. There’s just not the same level of interest in hockey like there is in football, basketball or baseball.
That could be a different story this year in popular venues like Caesars Palace, the Bellagio and the Wynn with the incredible success of the Vegas Golden Knights — the NHL’s latest and greatest expansion team, which averages 18,000 fans a game at T-Mobile Arena.
The new home of the Golden Knights is located on the Las Vegas Strip at the foot of a new and innovative meeting place simply call The Park, which stands between two iconic hotels — New York New York and Monte Carlo.
Betting action on the NHL includes the money line, puck line and over/under totals. Don’t count the Golden Knights out of any playoff game, especially when they play at home where they set a league record for home wins by an expansion team in its first season of play.
Vegas Golden Knights NHL Schedule
The league realigned into a four-division, two-conference system for the 2013-14 season. Under the new postseason setup, the top three teams in each division make the playoffs, with two wild-card teams in each conference (for a total of eight playoff teams from each conference). There are 16 teams in the East and 15 clubs in the West, so 16 teams make the playoffs out of 31.
The lower seeded wild-card team plays against the division winner with the best record while the other wild card plays against the other division winner. The other two series match the second- and third-place teams from the divisions.
The winners advance to the second round, then the conference final and, ultimately, the Stanley Cup final.
The Golden Knights play in the Pacific Division of the Western Conference. The Vegas team has been the most successful expansion team in league history.
Vegas Golden Knights NHL Standings
The Golden Knights have led the eight-team Pacific Division from their first game of their inaugural season. They opened the season in 2017 and followed that up with two more wins.
Vegas was 8-1 after nine games, and well on their way to many records for an expansion team. The Golden Knights have even had the best record in the entire 31-team league at times this season.

Vegas Golden Knights History
Vegas became the first expansion team in 17 years when the Golden Knights filled their initial roster by selecting players in the NHL Expansion Draft on June 21, 2017. They were required to select or sign one player, who was not protected, from each existing team.
What was supposed to be a team building for the future quickly changed when the Golden Knights won their season opener on the road on Oct. 6, 2017. They haven’t stopped winning since.
The Golden Knights broke the record for most wins by an expansion team in their first season when they earned their 34th victory on Feb. 1, 2018. They broke the record for most points by an expansion team in their inaugural season when they got their 84th on Feb. 21, 2018.
Now, the Golden Knights have set their sights even higher with a lengthy playoff run — possibly even a Stanley Cup championship.
